Homework: Song Parts

This week, your goal is to become familiar with the common sections found in most songs.

1. Review the Guide

Read through each song section and make sure you understand its purpose:

  • Intro

  • Verse

  • Pre-Chorus

  • Chorus

  • Post-Chorus

  • Bridge

  • Solo

  • Outro

2. Listen Actively

Pick 3 of your favorite songs and identify each section as you listen.

Ask yourself:

  • Where does the intro end?

  • When does the verse begin?

  • Where is the chorus?

  • Is there a bridge or solo?

3. Bonus Challenge

Write out the song structure for one of your favorite songs.

Example:
Intro → Verse → Chorus → Verse → Chorus → Solo → Chorus → Outro
